JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Junior High School (JHS) in the Philippines covers Grades 7 to 10 and serves as a critical transition period between elementary education and Senior High School. It is designed to strengthen foundational knowledge, develop higher-order thinking skills, and prepare students for more specialized learning in Senior High School or technical-vocational pathways.

JHS follows the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum, which includes core subjects such as: Mathematics, Science, English, Filipino, Araling Panlipunan (Social Studies), Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan (EPP) / Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE), MAPEH (Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health), EsP (Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao or Values Education)

The curriculum is designed to be learner-centered, competency-based, and inclusive, ensuring students acquire 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration.

Additionally, students in JHS are introduced to exploratory subjects under the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) track, allowing them to develop practical skills in fields such as ICT, home economics, and industrial arts. This exposure helps them identify their interests and career pathways before moving on to Senior High School.

To support holistic development, Junior High School also emphasizes extracurricular activities, leadership training, and community engagement, ensuring that learners are well-rounded and prepared for both academic and real-world challenges.
